Founded in 1988, Denver Technology emerged from the collaborative vision of four close friends. Their shared goal was to engage with exceptional individuals and harness their technical expertise to assist clients in the Energy and Natural Resources sector to enhance their business processes.
Since its inception, Denver Technology has evolved into a prominent Australian consultancy and technology services provider, boasting a workforce of approximately 50 professionals across our Perth & Brisbane offices. Our primary mission is to empower the Energy and Natural Resources sector through tailored technology solutions and a commitment to enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Over the years, we have nurtured enduring partnerships with clients such as ATOM, BHP, bp, Sandfire Resources, Paladin Energy, Pilbara Minerals, and Covalent Lithium. These organisations share our commitment to bridging the gap between business and technology, resulting in substantial improvements across their entire value chains.

Our Leadership Team
Ben Mills
Chief Executive Officer
Ben joined the Denver Technology team in January 2021 as the Chief Financial Officer. In August 2022, Ben was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Working closely with the board of directors and the executive team, Ben takes a hands-on approach to ensuring Denver’s operational excellence and strategic development and execution.
A chartered accountant by trade, Ben commenced his career in professional practice working in audit and corporate services at big four and middle-tier accounting firms before moving into senior finance roles within residential construction, lease management and technology.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Finance and Professional Accounting) from Murdoch University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
Matt Clayton
General Manager, Business Development & Customer Success
Matt brings over two decades of extensive knowledge and expertise to the sales and marketing aspects of the company, with a significant portion of his career dedicated to the energy and natural resources sector. Known for meticulous attention to detail and a track record of successfully translating business requirements into compelling commercial offerings, Matt is committed to understanding our clients' unique needs and business priorities. This dedication ensures that our proposed solutions are not only relevant but also deliver tangible value.
Matt emphasises face-to-face communication, believing that cultivating enduring customer relationships hinges on providing attentive care and support. His journey with the Denver Technology team began in March 2011 as a Business Development Manager, progressing through various roles to the position of General Manager, Business Development & Customer Success. In this capacity, he collaborates closely with the CEO and the General Manager, Business Innovation, shaping the company's strategic direction for sales and marketing initiatives.
Beyond Denver Technology, Matt actively participates in respected industry associations such as Austmine and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Keren Jenns
General Manager, Business Innovation
Keren joined the Denver Technology team in December 2010 as a Senior PM/BA, progressing through multiple roles, eventually to that of General Manager, Business Innovation. Working closely with the leadership team, our clients, industry experts and [importantly] our delivery teams - Keren leads our way in designing and defining fresh ideas that transform the way our business is run. She is responsible for managing our innovation culture and capability. This in turn, via our delivery teams, brings that research, experience, ideas and lessons to our clients so they too can innovate, optimise or transform.
With over twenty years experience in Technology, twelve years of which working within energy and natural resources, Keren brings a pragmatic approach to understanding and defining our clients’ challenges; and then providing solutions that deliver upon their strategic and/or personal objectives. A business is truly transformed when Innovations that deliver quantifiable value are successfully implemented.
Keren is a member of Austmine and tertiary qualified in Software Engineering and Information Systems.
Marco Van Staden
Head of IT/OT
Marco Joined Denver Technology in 2021. As the Head of IT/OT, Marco leads a team driving system and networking projects, primarily focused on Operational Technology (OT) environments. With a background in Mining and Oil and Gas Systems, Marco provides Solution Architecture Services, drawing from extensive industry experience.
With a robust career spanning over 20 years in the Resources industry, Marco has traversed various engineering, leadership, and technology roles, each contributing to his wealth of experience. Notably, his tenure includes significant contributions within a leading Control systems vendor, where he honed his skills and knowledge. As a leader of Operational Technology teams, Marco spearheaded the establishment of resilient data platforms tailored for OT data ingestion, underscoring his reputation as a proficient practitioner in the field.
Furthermore, Marco's academic background is anchored by a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, a foundation that complements his practical experience and strengthens his ability to navigate complex industry challenges.
Mark Coleman
Head of Design & Integration
Mark joined the Denver Technology Team in 2024, stepping into the role of Solution Architect. With over two decades of experience in the technology realm, Mark has seamlessly navigated the intricate landscape from Wire to Wireframes. His extensive background spans diverse sectors, including Mining & Resources, Utilities, Government, and Defence.
Mark plays a pivotal role in shaping Denver Technology's Solution Architecture and Delivery practices. His proactive approach ensures that the team adheres to the high standards of quality and suitability that define Denver Technology's reputation.
Embodying the philosophy of "Work to Learn", Mark views new opportunities as avenues for personal and professional growth. His commitment to continuous learning is evident as he eagerly embraces challenges, believing that true mastery comes from immersing oneself in the depths of experience.
Beyond his project-centric mindset, Mark actively engages with various industry interest groups, covering a spectrum of products, technologies, and services related to Solution Architecture.
Adam Fry
Head of Customer Support
Adam joined the Denver Technology team in March 2022 to review and enhance the businesses Procurement function. In March of 2023, Adam assumed the role of Head of Customer Support. Collaborating closely with the leadership team and clients to ensure the delivery of a high standard of customer service and develop lasting relationships, Adam oversees a team of seasoned professionals with extensive industry-focused technical expertise.
With over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, Adam possesses a deep understanding of the critical role technology plays in business success and is acutely aware of the repercussions when technology fails to perform as intended. Leveraging his experience enables him to drive excellence within his team and assures clients that their decision to partner with Denver Technology is backed by expertise and commitment.
Rob Whitelaw
Head of Business Services
In 2023, Rob joined Denver Technology as the Head of Business Services, leading a team that provides analytical and project management support for client and internal projects. With over 25 years of experience in Energy, Mining, and Oil and Gas Systems, Rob and his team serve as a center of excellence, offering Business Analysis and Project Management services across global projects of varying scales.
Rob's extensive 25-year career has seen him in strategic, leadership, and technological roles, contributing to his wealth of experience. Proficient in data analytics, PRINCE 2, and agile methodologies, he plays a crucial role in Resources asset management projects and networking programs, including overseeing data-related system integrations with ERP products like SAP.
Complementing his practical experience, Rob holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Surrey, enhancing his ability to address complex industry challenges.
